The Best Summer Staples + Where to Find Them

The summer season is in full swing and the warmer weather has us gearing up for pretty summer days and even prettier summer styles. Today I've put together a list of the best summer inspired fashion staples and accessories and exactly where to find them. Perfect for iced latte consumption, fluffy dog petting, and pretty much anything else that reminds you of summer.

The Printed Sundress

One of the biggest trends I’ve seen this summer—especially in Los Angeles—is the resurgence of the printed sundress. Although sundresses have always been a summer classic, these new sundresses with bold, feminine prints (cherries, florals, and everything in between) have become a widely popular trend on Instagram and beyond. From tea dresses to smock dresses, this sweet spin on a summer classic is one of the prettiest (and easiest) summer staples to style.

The Princess Blouse

The "Princess" blouse is a trend made popular by brands like Orseund Iris, whose feminine style and effortless design have made this blouse a new summer favorite. This dainty top is usually designed with puff sleeves, off the shoulder wear, smock style blousing, or a Victorian bodice, and has been seen in a variety of colors—usually neutrals, whites, florals and baby blues amongst others. I've been loving this particular top for its effortless, feminine design that easily dresses up any casual summer outfit. These are great to pair with your favorite high waisted denim, cut off trousers, and more.

Straw + Woven Bags

A playful, 90s inspired accessory that has recently resurfaced: straw bags have been a fun but entirely wearable accessory to go along with every summer look! Woven or straw bags can be found at nearly every online store (including fast fashion brands such as Urban Outfitters, Free People, etc.) and are an adorable summer accessory to pair with sundresses, denim, and more. Not only are these straw bags fun and affordable, but they come in varying shapes and sizes to fit any personal style (and you can likely find a preloved version off of Depop and Etsy).

Statement Micro Sunnies

Statement sunglasses are a crucial summer essential, but these new styles of angled and micro sunglasses take a retro spin on your average summer sunnies. Brands such as Belmto are redesigning your everyday essentials with beautiful wire, cat eye, and micro style sunglasses at affordable prices. Although these sunnies aren't meant for much practical use (note: I still recommend having a reliable pair of "regular" sized sunglasses for *actual* sun protection), these sunglasses are a fun accessory for adding an effortless vintage flare to your look.

Modern Gold Jewelry

From hollow hoops to pendant necklaces, classic gold jewelry has become another summer trend that has taken over Instagram, as seen in boutiques like Above Average Studio, Bagatiba, and Belmto. These dainty pieces are a great accessory to dress up simple outfits for a more refined and polished look, and can be layered with other gold pieces like stackable bracelets, cross or medallion necklaces, and more. High quality gold jewelry can often be difficult to find in most fast fashion stores (no one wants that jewelry that turns green), but are easy to find and personalize on websites like Etsy and Mejuri.
