local businesses to support during quarantine (east los angeles)

To say it's been difficult over the past few weeks is an understatement. Although most of us are staying indoors during this lockdown, there are a few ways to keep safe while still supporting the local businesses you love. Below are some of the shops, restaurants, and cafes in East Los Angeles who are still open for responsible patronizing, and deserve a little extra love:

Maru Coffee

Maru Coffee is one of my favorite spots for coffee and matcha, and they've shifted to takeaway/curbside service to keep their customers safe. Place your order at the window, stand six feet away from other people, and go tf home. It's easy and their new hours are from 8am - 3pm.

Masa of Echo Park

If you're a fan of deep dish pizza and really good Italian food, Masa of Echo Park is a local favorite. As of now they are currently accepting take out & delivery service, so you can still enjoy the best pizza ever from the comfort of your home.

Silverlake Farmer's Market

The Silverlake farmer's market on W Sunset Blvd used to be one of my favorite weekend activities, and luckily, the market has made new adjustments to keep vendors/patrons safe while allowing the neighborhood to still shop fresh produce from local farms. Check out the farmer's market Instagram page for updates on its upcoming dates.

Sage Vegan Bistro

Sage is open for pickup and takeaway for its amazing vegan food, coffee, and drinks, and they are additionally offering ready-to-bake meals (soups, pastas, etc.) and produce boxes of fresh organic produce to have at home. Done and done.

Alfred Coffee

Alfred addicts look no further: its Melrose place location now accepts curbside pickup and takeaway for their fan-favorite beverages, and they've even created an iOS app to make ordering coffee for pickup that much easier. Like Sage, they're additionally offering organic produce boxes of fresh veggies for only $30 through County Line Harvest.
