After living in Los Angeles for over a year, I’ve been on an ongoing search for the best coffee shops in my neighborhood. From Santa Monica to Venice, West Los Angeles is the home to some of my favorite cafes and coffee shops. Today I’ve put together a list of the best coffee: west of the 405.
Rose Cafe is a cafe, bakery, and restaurant based in Venice, CA, stocked with fresh pastries, delicious brunch, and speciality coffee drinks with a variety of alternative milk options as well. Featuring a rustic menu, Rose’s eatery has two gorgeous outdoor patios, a bar, and a bakery, serving both drinks and food from 7AM to 10PM every day on Rose Avenue. Try the lavender latte with hemp milk the next time you drop in!

Alfred’s Coffee Brentwood
Alfred’s Coffee is a Los Angeles staple, but their Brentwood location holds a special place in my heart on the west side. You might recognize them from their slogan, “but first, coffee”, but don’t let the cultish nature of the brand deter you: Alfred’s is truly one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles, with espresso shots, cold brew, their famous iced lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and even kombucha. For a drink that’s both Instagram worthy and delicious, find your new favorite at Alfred’s!
Find it: 11908 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049
If you couldn’t already tell, Venice is the home to some of the best coffee on the west side, and Abbot Kinney’s Intelligentsia is no exception. With an industrial atmosphere, Intelligentsia perfects handcrafted coffee with high quality flavors, mastering the art of some of my favorite coffee drinks like iced oat milk lattes or matcha drinks. Intelligentsia is almost always packed with customers, so get there early if you want to hang around for more than a quick coffee run.
